Dalwhinnie 30 Year Old Diageo Special Release 2020

Part of Diageo's Special Releases for 2020, a single malt from the Dalwhinnie distillery in the Highlands. Distilled in 1989, matured for 30 years in refill American oak hogsheads and bottled in 2020. A total of 6,978 bottles were produced. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 51.9%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Tasting Notes

NOSE
Reserved, dusty and somewhat closed to start with. Sweet and fragrant with moorland scents and dried herbal notes, subtle traces of butterscotch and boiled sweets, and a pencil-box base of new wood.

PALATE
Slightly astringent in texture, but sweet overall, with a drying, gradually building peppery-spicy warmth.

FINISH
 Long and warming.
